Mary Ann O'Neill

Mary Ann O'Neill, age 94, of West Peoria, passed away at 3:03 pm on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born March 4, 1931 in Peoria, a daughter to Russell and Alice (Anthony) Arnold. Mary Ann was raised and educated in Peoria graduating from Academy of Our Lady with the Class of 1949. On February 3, 1951 she married William E. O'Neill, Jr. at St. Mary Cathedral and together they cherished 54 years until his passing on October 31, 2005. Mary Ann was a proud homemaker her whole life. She enjoyed playing bingo at the KC Club and babysitting all her grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral and former member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. A devout catholic and woman of faith, Mary Ann cherished her family, was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include nine children: Peggy (Jim) Grow, Patty (Tom) Crotz, Marialice Ryon, Kelli (Jeff) Wagoner, Jennifer O'Neill, William (Mary) O'Neill III, Chuck (Jan) O'Neill, Jim (Merdie) O'Neill, Chris (Elise) O'Neill; 26 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law Dave Ryon, grandson Bradley Grow, great-granddaughter Faith, two brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be held at Wright & Salmon Mortuary on Sunday, September 28, 2025 from 4:00 PM until of recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Cathedral on Monday, September 29, 2025 at 10:00 AM with an additional visitation 30 minutes prior to mass. Father William Miller will officiate, and burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the wonderful sister-in-law's, Mary and Elise, and OSF Hospice Care for the loving care for Mary Ann.

In lieu of flowers preferred memorials in Mary Ann's memory may be made as masses.
