Mary Olson Obituary
Mary M. Olson, age 83 of Gladstone passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Christian Park Village in Escanaba.
Mary Madelyn Rushford was born on October 11, 1942 in Toledo, OH, the daughter of Morley and Madelyn (Boyer) Rushford.
Mary went back to school in her 40's and received an Associates Degree in Business Administration. She was employed with Pathways as a Secretary up until her retirement in 2000. She loved her job, especially her coworkers.
Mary enjoyed QVC shopping as well as online shopping. There were always packages arriving. She also enjoyed painting rocks, watching basketball and spending time with her family. Mary especially treasured all of her grandchildren and further loved her dog, Bella.
Mary had 36 wonderful and loving years married to Robert Olson. He preceded her in death in 2024.
She was very caring, funny and quick witted. Mary was even a bit sassy at times. She always loved making people laugh and her home became a comfort zone to all.
Mary is survived by her sister, Emily Miron of Rapid River, MI, brothers, Morley (Monica) Rushford II of Rapid River MI and Bill (Jeanne) Rushford of Algonac, MI, daughter's, Colleen (Pedro) Garcia of Naperville, IL, Ann (Paul) Olmsted of Escanaba MI, Cheryl (Robin Lenards) Gagne of Rapid River, MI and Miranda (Erik) Heemsoth of Grand Blanc, MI, son, Ronald Olson of Gladwin, MI, 9 loving grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by, husband, Robert Olson and son, Daniel Hickey.
Mary will be laid to rest on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 4:00 PM with a graveside service in the Rapid River Cemetery. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Olson family. To offer an online message of sympathy to the family please visit www.skradskifuneralhomes.com
