Mary Overright Obituary
Mary Ellen, as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was born April 21, 1935, to John H. Schwemlein and Lillian C. (Klein) Schwemlein in the small midwestern town of Mendota Illinois. She was a 1953 graduate of Mendota High School. She was employed by the General Telephone Company as a switchboard operator when she met her husband Edward on a blind date arranged by her best friend. They were married October 15, 1955 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mendota Illinois and lived in numerous places. They were blessed with 6 children. They eventually settled in the Four Corners region.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had many "hats" in her career. Some of her most memorable being school cook, cashier at Thrifty Drug Store and co-owner in Overright Trucking Inc. with her husband and son Michael where she was an active partner until her health no longer allowed it.
Mary Ellen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Isaac in 2021. She leaves behind sons, James (Heather) Overright, Michael (Angela) Overright, daughters, Theresa (Dan) Spaid, Anne (Kurt) Urban, Donna (Kevin) King, Mary (Ed) Lopez, 15 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchldren.
A special thank you to all the doctors, nurses and various staff members for their care and kindness shown to our mother during her hard fought cancer battle.
A celebration of life will be held on October 28, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Farmington, NM. Rosary and Funeral Mass are scheduled for 10 am with internment immediately following on site in the Sacred Heart Columbarium. All are invited to attend a dinner and reception in the Parish Hall following the services. In lieu of flowers, the family is encouraging memorial contributions be made to a charity of choice.
