Mary Alice (Ford) Parrish, of Chicopee, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, at Holyoke Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 28, 1942 in Siler City, North Carolina, to the late Eddie Ford and Mary (Brooks) Ford. Mary was educated in the Chatham County, NC, schools, where she graduated in 1960. She met and married James C. Parrish, and they relocated to Springfield, MA to begin their life together and raise their family. From this union, they had three sons; James, Nathaniel, and Micheal. Mary worked for Westvaco for more than 30 years, and in her retirement spent her time as a bus monitor for the Holyoke School District.

A devoted woman of faith, Mary was an active and cherished member of The Whole Truth Temple Church of God in Christ in Springfield, affectionately known as "Mother Parrish". Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she found great joy and strength in her church community. Mary taught bible study, held a seat on the Women's committee, and mentored many women as they found their way to Christ. She enjoyed traveling to Women and Children's conventions, often bringing her grandchildren along. Mary was passionate about baking and cooking, sharing her love through the meals and treats she made for others. She embraced the beauty of each New England season, especially treasuring autumn's crisp air and vibrant colors. She also enjoyed shopping, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her beloved family.

Mary is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, James Carl Parrish, and their three children: James A. Parrish (Marquita) of Cary, North Carolina; Nathaniel Parrish (Barbara) of Holyoke; and Micheal A. Parrish of West Springfield. She leaves behind 11 grandchildren: Natalie, Evander, Brianne, Andrew, Katirya, Frances, Bryce, Elyssa, Nathaniel, Jaiden, and Savion. She also leaves four great-grandchildren, who brought immense pride and joy to her life. Mary was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Alfred and Robert Ford. Mary will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her unwavering faith, loving spirit, and the legacy she leaves in the hearts of all who knew her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who we will all truly miss.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street, Springfield. Her funeral service will take place on Monday, September 8, 2025, at 10:00 AM, meeting directly at The Whole Truth Temple Church of God in Christ, 8 Norfolk Street, Springfield. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, also in Springfield. Mary will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her unwavering faith, loving spirit, and the legacy she leaves in the hearts of all who knew her.
