Mary Frances Pennybacker, 91, of Sugar Grove, WV, passed away Friday, March 7, 2025 at Pendleton Manor in Franklin, WV.
She was born on November 14, 1933 in Pendleton County, a daughter of the late Courtney and Lydia (Puffenbarger) Pennybacker.
She was a member of the former Brushy Fork Full Gospel Church and enjoyed attending services at Brandywine Baptist Church.
A homemaker, she enjoyed raising a garden, quilting, and cooking. Additionally, she truly loved being in church and time spent reading. Above all, she will be remembered for her love of family.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sisters, Julia Pennybacker, Ella Puffenbarger, and Gertude Simmons; brothers, Raymond Puffenbarger and John Puffenbarger; as well as an infant sister.
The last surviving member of her immediate family, Mary’s extended family includes a special niece, Cathy Mullens and husband, John of Sugar Grove; great-niece, Miranda Wagoner, also of Sugar Grove, as well as her children, Tristan, Austan, and Mikenzie Wagoner; and Cathy’s grandchildren, whom Mary considered her own grandchildren, Adalynn, Archer, and Aleenah Wagoner.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Monday, March 10, 2025 at Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell with Pastor Timothy Weaver officiating. Interment will follow in Puffenbarger Family Cemetery in Sugar Grove.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers are John Mullens, Tristan Wagoner, Austin Reinard, C.J. Eckard, Wesley Puffenbarger, and David Puffenbarger.
