Mary Petrakis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Vander Plaat Memorial Home on Dec. 4, 2024.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Mary. On Nov 29, 2024, she had peacefully risen to join her husband (and our father) Steve, who had also gone to be with the Lord on Feb 7, 2024.
Mary is survived by her 3 loving daughters; Helen, Vicky, and Christina, her 3 grandchildren; Ava, Michael and Steven, son in-law, Michael, God-daughter Paulette, and Godson, Charles.
One of our mother's favorite pastimes was needle point. Her artwork adorned many of the walls in our family home and she took pride in all her displays.
Baking was another favorite pastime. On any given day, Mary could be found at the computer searching for new and delicious recipes.
When it came to dessert, she enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, who quickly became her inspiration and constant companion in the kitchen. Greek pastries were one of our mother's specialties and she took great pride in her Greek heritage.
Mommy, we want you to know that we will always remember your smile, your laugh, and how unknowingly funny you were.
Our beloved mother, Mary, was 90 years young.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's memory may be made to St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church 51 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ 07652, or Valley Hospice c/o The Valley Hospital Foundation, 15 Essex Road, Paramus, NJ 07652.
