Mary Lee Povroznik, 71, of Westover, WV, passed away on August 13, 2025, after a decade-long battle with breast cancer.
Born July 27, 1954, to Glenna and Herbert Martin, she was a dedicated public servant and passionate advocate for animals. As an EMT/Paramedic with Mon County EMS and through her other work in medical and government roles, Mary Lee tirelessly contributed to the Morgantown community, touching countless lives.
She also spent much of her life facilitating the rescue of numerous dogs and cats.
Mary Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Glenna and Herbert.
She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Tim; her son, Jamie, and his wife, Lindsey; and her three grandchildren, Frankie, Dottie, and Toby, who knew her as Nanny.
Friends may join the family to honor Marys life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover (304-292-9494) on Saturday, August 16th from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Following the visitation and in accordance with Marys request, she will be cremated.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Tonies Fund at https://www.toniesfund.org/. This fund supports the early detection of breast cancer, a cause close to the family's heart, as it took both Mary Lee's life and that of her husband Tim's cousin, Tonie.
Jason and Cathy Smith, and the care team of the funeral home, are humbled but heartbroken to care for our dear friend.
Condolences and other gifts of comfort for the family may be offered to the family at www.smithfcc.com.
