Mary Powers Obituary
1928 - 2025
Peabody - Mary T. (O'Shea) Powers, age 96, of Peabody, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Born in Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland she immigrated to the U.S. where she then resided in Lynn MA and shared 53 years of marriage with the late James Powers. She was also the youngest of 18 brothers and sisters who predeceased her and whose names she could still rapidly recite up until a few months ago.
In addition to her sweet gentle heart, she was known for her stories of the "Old Country", strong Catholic roots, famous Irish bread, crochet gifts, impressive crossword skills, riddles and limericks and Irish jig dancing.
She is survived by her son James Powers of Ipswich, her daughter Sheila Peterson and her husband Fred of Peabody; three grandchildren; April Peterson of Peabody, Emma Daniels and her husband Tim of Peabody, and Matthew Powers and his wife Lindsay of Seabrook; her great-grandchildren Olivia and Abigail Daniels; as well as many nieces and nephews including Ellen Trainor of Revere and Eugene Trainor of Stow, MA.
Service Information: Her visitation will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 from 10AM-11AM in the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt 129), Lynn, with a funeral service beginning at 11AM. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Directions and guestbook at www.solimine.com

Our sincere deepest sympathy to Sheila and Jimmy and extended families on the sad passing of Auntie Mary. We have wonderful fond memories of all her trips to Ireland and Tralee. Mary was full of fun and great for the stories of times gone past. We loved our trips to Boston and visiting Mary and going shopping. We have beautiful hand crafted art work belonging to Mary and we cherish the fond memories. Mary loved talking about Ballymac and her school days in Flemby. She came from a large family and she loved her trips home to meet up with family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
May she rest in peace.
