Mary "Christine" Proctor. a beloved mother, grandmother (affectionately known as Gruma), great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 24, 2025. Born to the late Dorothy E. Brown and the late James E. Greenfield on September 17, 1942. Christine was a lifelong resident of Charles County Maryland.
Christine received her education in the Charles County School System and was employed with the Naval Surface Warfare (NSWC) Indian Head Division where she made many cherished friendships and touched the lives of those around her with her warmth and kindness until retirement. After her retirement, Christine continued to care for others by providing private nursing care, where she offered excellent support and compassion to those in need.
As a member of Saint Mary's Star she loved God and trusted that His promises were true, relying on His word for guidance and strength in times of need. She enjoyed studying the bible with her sister, Dr. Reverend Ruby Thomas. She rarely missed a service hen her sister was preaching.
Christine had a kind heart and unselfishly offered support to anyone in need. She exemplified "But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing," Matthew 6:3 NIV.
When remembering Christine, meditate on "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. "Philippians 4:8 KJV.
Christine enjoyed playing cards and she loved to win. Whether it was Bid Whist, Spades, Deuces, Tunk or 500, she delighted in besting her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Christine was fiercely competitive, and everyone knew that when she sat at the card table, she played to win. She also loved playing with her friends; at and event she attended, you could count on a call for Bid Whist players. Christine never missed a chance to join a game, filling every gathering with laughter, competition, and cherished memories. She was an original member of the Will Bid Whist Club that was founded in the 1980s. She was a retired league bowler with the Classic Ladies Bowling Club. She subsequently introduced league bowling to her children. She enjoyed the camaraderie and steadfast loyalty of her teammates.
On April 18, 1959, Christine and Bobby Proctor were untied in marriage. Through this union, their seven children were born; Rhonda (dies in infancy), Terri, Lionel, Kevin, Bonnie, Tracy and Stacy.
