Mary Lou (Schuler) Quade

3/5/1940 – 8/16/2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Quade announces her passing on 8/16/2025. Mary died in Wenatchee, Washington, following a valiant and prolonged battle with old age. Her death came with her surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Buffalo Center, Iowa, to Samuel and Josephine Schuler, Mary lived a simple life until beginning nurses training at Mercy Hospital's School of Nursing. As part of her training, she moved to Dubuque, Iowa, where she met her future husband, Jim.

After earining her Registered Nurse designation, she and Jim were wed. Soon after, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she gave birth to their first daughter, Linda, beginning their lives together in joy. Explorers at heart, she and Jim moved to Dallas, Texas, in time for the birth of their second daughter, Joan.

After a long and venerable career in nursing, Mary retired in 2009, at the age of sixty-nine. She spent some time pursuing her love of travelling, exploring both new and familiar places with her family and friends.

Mary is survived by daughters, Linda (partner Kevin Hernandez) and Joan, grandchildren Kelsey Hanson and Annie Hanson (Sean Salazar), and sister, Georgia Brown. Mary is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as by long-time, loving friends Dick and Barb Newton.

Mary was preceded in death by husband, Jim, parents Sam and Josephine Schuler, brothers Pete and Larry, as well as infant brother Sammy Joe, sisters Barbara Letcher, Betty Murra, and Stella Kolpek. She was also preceded in death by father and mother-in-law, Ernst and Dorothy Quade, several nieces and nephews, and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.

There will be a graveside service at 10 am on Thursday, August 28th, at Wenatchee Cemetery, 1804 N Western Ave, Wenatchee. Traditional funeral attire is not required. It will be hot. Please dress for comfort.
