To Mary's Loving Family: I was overseas in Switzerland when my husband found Mary's published obituary. I shed some serious tears with that read. Recalling some great memories! Being asked if I would design something for the new metal sign for the Arboretum she donated quietly in her Mother's memory. (I designed 4 alternatives!) She & BFF Barb & Barney purchased the plants from McKay & installed them themselves. Then she also wanted a cluster of oaks! Next, she asked me to design a surround for the new Gazebo. McKay & I donated over 200 spiraea for this venture. Guess who plotted the entire knot garden? Barb, of course! Next, a design for the parking lot edge. Mary never gave up, her enthusiasm was contageous. And her love for the Arboretum was notable.
Mary loved her Bob fiercely. Once, in delivering a large bowl of freshly picked & cleaned apples from my yard, I saw the solarium set carefully for dinner. Freshly ironed tablecloth, table set for two, candlesticks in place, and wine glasses. Dinner was cooking away on the stove as she was finishing tossng fresh salad. Mary cared deeply and was an elegant lady, always with that beautiful smile & twinkle in her eye. Bob was pampered with love.
I received beautiful hand-written notes through the years, long funny emails that we would thread back & forth.
Mary has been one of the most exuberant sweet ladies of our community that I worked with professionally & count as a dear friend.
Until we meet again!!! Fly high, Mary
