Mary Evelyn Richardson-Moreland of St. James, Missouri, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025, at the University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, at the age of 73.
Mary was born in St. James, Missouri, a Valentine's gift to her parents, Charlie Lee and Wanda Laverne (Smith) Richardson. The only daughter among three brothers, Mary learned early on how to be strong and independent, yet totally spoiled by her brothers..
Mary was known for her generous heart-she would give you the shirt off her back and never ask for anything in return. She adored her family and treated everyone close to her as family. She loved all things horses and especially enjoyed riding. Mary was a wonderful cook who took great joy in bringing everyone together for the holidays or any occasion. She also loved game nights with cards and Yahtzee. Though she didn't tend a large garden, she cherished her small rose garden and cared for it with pride.
Mary is survived by her children, Lennie Moreland and wife Rebecca of Sullivan, MO, and Misty Moreland of St. James, MO; brothers, Roy Lee Richardson and wife Pansy of Vichy, MO, and Troy Richardson and wife Helen of Rolla, MO; grandchildren, Jersey Moreland, Tristan Moreland, Nicolas Light, Nathan Flyzik, Keegan Moreland, Abigail Moreland, Braylee Moreland, and Brooklynn Moreland; great-grandchildren, Aiden Makhnovskiy, Carmen Moreland, Bemi and Daisy Flyzik, Isabel Flyzik; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Charlie and Wanda Richardson, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Larry Moreland Jr., and brother, Robert Charles Richardson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary, with Pastor Mike Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Meramec Hills Cemetery in Cuba, Missouri. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Chapel on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
