Mary Collette Ronan Jacobson, 76, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 11, 2025, from cardiac arrest. She was the wife of Elliott Jacobson, with whom she shared 50 years.

Born in Saint Charles, Illinois, Mary was the daughter of the late John and Mary Ronan. She attended Mount St. Mary's Academy in St. Charles and Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Professionally, she was a career counselor in Gloucester for over 35 years; she loved helping people find satisfying and meaningful work.

Devoted to her family, Mary loved running in Magnolia, every dog she met, and the community of Gloucester. She had an intense interest in meteorology, although she hated the heat and high dew point. One of her favorite activities was parking on the back shore with Elliott to watch a storm roll in.

In addition to her husband Elliott, Mary is survived by her daughter Jessica and her husband Jonathan; her grandson Jake and step grandson Jack; brother Mike Ronan, his wife Anne and their children, Wyatt and Morey; brother John Ronan, his wife Sandy and children Ben, married to Kristin, and Tim, married to Dominika and her late brother Jim's daughter, Jamie Ronan. Mary is also survived by her dear friend, Pete Wheeler, also of St. Charles.

In addition to her parents, Mary is predeceased by her brother Jim Ronan and dear friend Rob Wheeler.

A service will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 11a.m. in the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
