Mary Vandalee Watson Roppel
December 25, 1940 - November 26, 2024
Vanda Roppel, age 83, passed away at her home in Bowling Green, KY on November 26, 2024 with her family by her side. She was born to the late Elmer and Edna (Hill) Watson on December 25, 1940 in Louisville, KY. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her granddaughter Jami Lee Roppel. Vanda attended high school at Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville, KY. After moving to Bowling Green, KY with her husband and children she eventually worked at Western Kentucky University until her retirement. Afterwards she enjoyed just being “Nana” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren as she had enormous love for her family. She especially enjoyed sharing stories of growing up with her loving brother Nick. Her legacy of love includes her brother Nicholas Watson of San Francisco, CA; her husband Jerome F. Roppel, Jr of Paducha, KY; her two sons Andy Roppel of Bowling Green, KY and Cory Roppel (Stacia) of Henderson, KY; Her daughter Katie Roppel Holland of Bowling Green, KY.
Her grandchildren Mallorie Bergman (Kyle) of Evansville, IN; Andrew R. Roppel (Tisha), Curtis Blondin (Paige), and Taylor Holland all of Bowling Green, KY; Mia Roppel-Wolf of Louisville, KY; and Ellie Roppel-Wolf of Henderson, KY.
Her great-grandchildren Hendrick and Oliver Bergman; Owsley Rae; Brixton, Renlie, and Kix Blondin; Aubree, Cameron, Carson, and Ava Carver.
She also expressed great love for her extended family and friends often. Any donations should be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or Humane Society.
There will be a Celebration of Life on January 4, 2025 from 12pm to 9pm at:
