Mary Carter Rory

Mary Lou Rory was born September 15, 1943 in Newark, NJ to Mary Louise and Lacey Carter. At a very early age, Mary was baptized and joined the Church Of God In Christ. The family moved to a small community between Colonia and Edison, NJ called Potters Crossing. Mary attended Oak Tree Elementary School in Edison. Upon moving back to Newark, Mary attended the Newark school system, completing 12th Grade at Central High School in Newark. In later years, Mary attended nursing school in Florida.
In 1965, Mary became the proud mother of a son, Walter Vincent. Mary met and married Fred Rory in 1967.
Mary worked the season factory circuit along Frelinghuysen Avenue in Newark. She became a Machine Operator, working for Calumet Plastic Co. in East Orange, NJ. She relocated to Florida in 1991.
Mary was preceded in death by: her loving son, Vincent Carter; her husband, Rev. Fred Rory; her parents, Mary Louise (Love) and Lacey T. Carter Sr.; two sisters, Shiryl Diane Gunter and Anna Delores Floynor; four brothers, Lacey T. Carter Jr., Kelvin, James Edward and Tyrone Carter.
Mary leaves to mourn her passing: a daughter, Antwanette Carter of Greenwood, FL; three brothers, Robert (Annette) Carter of Irvington, NJ, Jerome (Lasonya) Carter of Syracuse, NY and Wayne (Anna Mildred) Carter of Westampton, NJ; two sisters, Beverly Cantlow of Newark, NJ and Caren Gardner of Raleigh, NC; two uncles, Edward "Sonny" Johnson of Newark, NJ and Charles McCoy of Newark, NJ; one son-in-law, Haneef Summers; seven grandchildren, Deonias, Da'Shawn, Ishaal, Taqara, Davon, Sa'Diya and Jabril of Greenwood, FL; a dear friend, Shakeia Riley of Newark, NJ; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
