Mary Sandy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Neidhard-Young Funeral Home - Mt. Healthy on Dec. 15, 2025.
Mrs. Mary Florence Sandy (née Kelhoffer), age 90, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2025, in Cincinnati, Ohio-the city where she was born and where she spent her life surrounded by those she loved.
Mary was born on August 14, 1935, in Cincinnati to Raymond and Eleanor Kelhoffer Sr. She attended Saint John the Baptist School and later continued her education at Southern Ohio Business College. These early years laid the foundation for a life defined by devotion to family, faith, and community.
She was united in marriage to Clifford E. Sandy, with whom she shared many cherished years before his passing. Together, they built a loving home and raised a family that brought Mary immense pride and joy.
Mary is lovingly remembered by her children: Daryl Sandy; Bruce Sandy and his wife Jill; and Mary Hassett and her husband Andy. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren-Madija Sandy (Kenny Bottom), Adijana Sandy, Chloe Hassett, Isabel Hassett, and Natalija Dawson (Chandler)-each of whom brought light to her life. She also held a special place in her heart for Brandon Lechuga, whom she considered a grandson. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of her great-granddaughter, Melina Bottom.
Mary was also a devoted aunt to Nickola Kelhoffer and Tia Gilbert, as well as to numerous great-nieces and nephews who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clifford E. Sandy; her brothers, Raymond Kelhoffer (Trudy and Marilyn) and Lawrence Kelhoffer (Barbara); her sisters-in-law, Wanda Guthrie, Linda Kidwell and Libby Sandy; her parents, Raymond and Eleanor Kelhoffer Sr.; her niece, Kim Wilkerson; her nephew, Ray Kelhoffer; and her great-nephew, Brian Wilkerson.
A proud Catholic throughout her life, Mary found strength and guidance in her faith, which shaped her deep compassion and kindness toward others.
Mary possessed a vibrant spirit that shone through in everything she did. She loved watching soccer-especially FC Cincinnati-and took great delight in cheering on her granddaughters during their games. A talented seamstress with an eye for detail, she enjoyed sewing and crafts that reflected both creativity and care. Her kitchen was often filled with the comforting aromas of home-cooked meals prepared with love, and she found peace and joy in gardening.
Above all else, Mary will be remembered as a giving, caring, and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her presence enriched the lives of those around her in countless ways.
Visitation will be held at St. John the Baptist Church 5361 Dry Ridge Rd. (45252) on Thursday, December 18, 2025 from 5 PM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 7 PM.
Burial will take place at St. John Dry Ridge Cemetery on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 10 AM.

My sympathy to Mary's entire family. I will miss her wit, her fashion sense, her devotion to her grandchildren, our group trips to Gatlinburg, her famous Christmas cookies and much more. Most of all, I will miss her friendship and thoughtfulness.
