Mary Lynn Sayer

Mary L. Sayer, born on May 19, 1960, in Chicopee, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025, in Leland, North Carolina, at the age of 65.

Mary was a dedicated nurse whose career spanned many years and locations, including her time at Lighthouse in Ohio, a center devoted to compassionate treatment of substance use disorders and mental health. Her passion for helping others and her caring nature touched the lives of countless patients and colleagues.

A woman of remarkable intelligence and complexity, Mary had an innate curiosity that extended beyond her professional life. She was particularly fascinated by the world of virtual reality gaming, where she found joy and a sense of adventure.

Mary's educational journey began at Chicopee Comprehensive High School, where she graduated in 1978. She continued her studies at the University of Massachusetts from 1979 to 1980, laying the foundation for her life's work in healthcare.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, William C. Keough and Florence Keough (Farashian), as well as her dear sister, Renee Keough.

Mary is survived by her sister, Leslie (Bill) Nelson; her children, Cody Sayer, Joshua Sayer, and Jessica Learned; and her three grandchildren.

Though there are no services to announce, Mary will be remembered as a devoted nurse and a woman of intelligence whose spirit touched many lives.
