Mary H. (Halbach) Schaar, age 69, of New Holstein, passed away unexpectedly with her loving family at her side on Monday, June 2, 2025, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton.
She was born March 16, 1956, in Sheboygan to the late Sylvester & Helen (Rach) Halbach. Mary graduated from New Holstein High School in 1974.
On April 1, 1981, she married Bruce Schaar in Las Vegas. Bruce preceded her in death on September 27, 2021.
Mary had worked at the former Gilson Manufacturing in Plymouth, Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein, Bremer Manufacturing in St. Anna, as well as assisting her husband, Bruce, in operating Schaar's Service Station.
Mary was very active in supporting local fund-raising activities, making an occasional trip to the local casinos, and enjoyed spending time at the cottage. She liked to bake, tend to her flowers, but mostly, was time spent with her family, especially her granddaughters.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Sonny Schaar of New Holstein and April (Luke) Lisch of New Holstein; her two granddaughters, Kinsley & Adalyn Lisch; her brothers & sisters, Don (Nancy) Halbach, Gerry (JoAnn) Halbach, Jean (Tom) Mueller, Joan (Rick) Mueller, Dan (Karen) Halbach, Paul (Jan) Halbach, her twin brother, Mike Halbach, Deb (Mike) Heus, Steve Halbach, and Scott (Mary Beth) Halbach; her sister-in-law, Ann (Jeff) Webber; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Bruce Schaar; her parents, Sylvester & Helen Halbach; her father-in-law & mother-in-law, Orville & Jane Schaar; her sister, Kathleen "Tootie" (Charlie) Kraus; and her sister-in-law, Cindy Halbach.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church, 1702 Van Buren Street,
New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Azor Cigelske will officiate. Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband, Bruce, in the Eaton Union Cemetery in the Town of Eaton following the service.
Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Mary's family at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue,
New Holstein, WI 53061, on Friday, June 6th from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Visitation will again be at the funeral home Saturday morning, June 7th from 8:30 AM until 10:00 AM. Please note, there will not be any visitation hours at the church.
