Mary L. "Rutter" Schmidt

Mary Schmidt, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026.

She was the devoted mother of Michael Schmidt (Jennifer) and Daniel Schmidt (Sheilamill), who were the center of her world and the greatest source of her pride.

Mary was a loving and cherished grandmother to Nicole, Kirsten, Daniel, Raquel, and Kaylie, each of whom brought her immense joy. She was also the proud great-grandmother of Pierce, whose presence brought a special light to her last year.

She is also survived by her sister, Kathy Elkins, and her brother, Oris Rutter.

Mary will be remembered for her love of family and her strength. Her family and friends will remember her strong will, her resilience, and the deep love she had for her children and grandchildren.

Her family was the greatest joy of her life, and she will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home, Forest Park, Illinois. A service will be held at the funeral home at 4:00 PM.
