Mary Seigfreid Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home - Sidney on Oct. 16, 2025.
Mary Seigfreid, 74, passed away in Billings, MT at St Vincent Hospital surrounded by family on October 13, 2025, under the wonderful care of her doctors, nurses, and the staff.
On April 11, 1951, Mary Annette Jensen was born in Sidney, Montana. Her parents Walter and Mary (Micheletto) Jensen and her two loving older brothers Carlo Anthony and John Louis were very excited to have a little girl in the house to tease and spoil at all opportunities.
With a large family of grandparents, aunts and uncles, and tons of cousins always around, Mary Annette had a happy and full childhood in Sidney. Summers were spent traveling with family and friends, after the dairy her father and brothers ran was closed and her parents started their insurance office, Jensen Agency in 1964. Her teenage years were full of adventures with friends and family, specifically her brother Carlo and his wife Paula and their three children. Being an aunt to Mike, Matt, Heather, Joe and Chrissie gave Mary some of the fullest moments throughout her life. Adventures with her brothers and sisters-in-law, when they were home from college or John's time in the military with his wife Kathryn Lindsay and their two children, were the stories she loved to share the most when thinking about her life. She was always there to witness their hijinks and daring feats, who would then innocently relay the tales later after everyone had survived.
After graduating high school in 1969, Mary moved to Portland, OR for a time to spread her wings. Later she moved to Great Falls, MT to attend the college at the College of Great Falls as an English major. While living in Great Falls she met the love of her life, a young airman stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base from Illinois, Alan Lee Seigfreid. Spending time together with friends and family, they quickly discovered how much they enjoyed each other's company and got married on January 18, 1975, in Sidney at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Mary always felt very blessed that both of their families loved each other and chose to spend time together whenever possible; parents, siblings, in-laws, and extended family on both sides. After moving to Colville, WA to work in a car dealership owned by Mary's brother Carlo, Alan and Mary began working together, something they would do for almost the entirety of their 50-year marriage.
Discovering that they would be welcoming the first of two children in the fall of 1977, Alan and Mary moved back to Great Falls while Alan attended business school. Amanda Jeanne was welcomed into the family in October during an early fall blizzard. The decision was made the following spring to move back to Sidney to join Walter and Mary in the insurance office. In February 1981 they welcomed their son, Erik Jens into their world to complete their family of four.
Alan and Mary worked in the insurance and real estate office together for 45 years, later renaming it Seigfreid Agency Insurance and Real Estate. Mary also took her love of reading and started her used bookstore, The Book Basket, that she operated for 25 years. Mary was the mom that jumped in at every opportunity to help or lead with any of the activities that her kids became passionate about, teaching CCD, leading a Girl Scout Troop, cheering at games, applauding at every band concert, even learning to tie rebar as a dedicated goalie mom to help build the floor in the new hockey building. Mary would help organize fundraisers, make costumes for Halloween, help design and build the best Valentine's Day boxes for school, or to help in any way that she could. Mary understood the values she wanted her kids to learn needed to be taught by both using her words and her actions, so she made sure her kids saw her volunteering for Jaycee Women, Women of Today, the Library Board, High Hopes Club, the Richland County Tax Appeal Board and in the community of Sidney with downtown events and other local activities. She was always ready to help and support any of Alan, Amanda, and Erik's passions, without a second thought.
Mary truly came into her greatest era when her grandson Erik Carlo Seigfreid was born in the early winter of 2014. Mary's greatest joy was being his grandma. She often joked that she got to do all the fun stuff again with Erik Carlo without having to stress about the cleanup, his parents could worry about that. Mary treasured the time that she spent working at the office with her husband, daughter and son. She knew every single up and down of their day because she was there for them all.
Never fully retiring, just slowing down, Mary loved going with Alan to their home at Fort Peck to boat and spend weekends with her kids and grandson, along with the many friends and family that would come to stay. Mary would indulge in her three passions, reading, cooking and her family. Mary showed you how much she loved you by cooking for you. Mary will be missed by the people that had the pleasure of knowing her kind heart and her loving ways when she considered you as one of hers.
Mary is survived by her loving husband Alan Seigfreid; her favorite daughter Amanda Seigfreid; her favorite son Erik Seigfreid; and her most loved grandson Erik Carlo Seigfreid; her beloved brother and sister-in-law John and Kathryn Lindsay MacDiarmid Jensen and their children Joseph (Hilary Wood) Jensen and Christina (Trenton) Jensen Owens; her adored sister-in-law Paula Strom Jensen and her nephews and niece, Michael (Susan) Jensen, Matthew (Rose) Jensen, and Heather (Ben) Jensen Peressini; her loving aunt Josie Micheletto McIntyre, uncle Tom Micheletto, and uncle Loren Dowdall; as well as numerous fun-loving Micheletto, Jensen, Dowdall, and Seigfreid cousins, treasured great nieces and nephews, and wonderful friends who are family.
Mary was proceeded in death by her immensely loved grandparents Jon and Anna Micheletto and Lars and Lillian Jensen; her loving parents Walter and Mary Jensen; her beloved in-laws Edwin Seigfreid, Jeanne Seigfreid Menke, and Briscoe Menke; cherished aunts, uncles and cousins too numerous to name; as well as her mischief loving oldest brother Carlo Jensen.
