Mary Elizabeth Sigears (Cheek), of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away July 25, 2025, at her home in Kansas City, Kansas.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Open Door Baptist Church (3033 N 103rd Ter, Kansas City, KS 66109) on August 16th, 2025. Visitation will start at 10:00am, service will start at 11:00am.

Mary was born January 31, 1966 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas to parents Melvin E Cheek and Helene Carol Cheek Matthews. Mary was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She will be deeply missed and always remembered.

Mary graduated from FL Schlagle in 1984. She went on to complete Cosmetology School but later found her calling as a nurse, where she would spend the rest of her career caring for others. Mary's passion for caregiving didn't stop with her professional life. She was quick to lend her skills, experience, and time to many family members over the years who needed medical care. Mary was fiercely loyal and protective of her family and friends. She had an infectious smile, laugh, and personality that made you want to be around her. She loved God, family, and her country and would always take the opportunity to openly show her support for those serving our country or
communities.

Mary was very generous with all she had. She loved her nieces and nephews and loved to spoil them when she could. She loved children and could not get enough of videos and photos of new nieces and nephews born into the family.

Survivors include: father, Melvin Cheek; mother, H. Carol Matthews; three brothers; 5 nephews; 2 nieces; 1 great-niece; and 3 great-nephews.
