Mary Glen "Riddle" Silver

Mary Glen Silver, age 95, of Burnsville, North Carolina, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Smoky Ridge Health & Rehabilitation in Burnsville, NC. Born on October 16, 1930, in Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Riddle and Pansy Ray Riddle. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Welzie Brook Silver; brothers: Vincent Riddle, Lee Riddle, and Sam Riddle; sisters, Ila Marie McMahan and Virginia Bill Riddle; a grandson, Tracy Silver; son-in-law, Richard Tipton; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Silver.

A lifelong resident of Burnsville, Mary Glen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of her Lord. Mary was a woman of quiet strength and unwavering faith. A devoted member of Low Gap Free Will Baptist Church, she loved gospel music and old hymns that spoke to her heart. She found joy in tending her flowers, working in her garden, and cooking for those she loved. Her family was her greatest treasure, and her children and grandchildren were truly her world. Known affectionately as "Mother" by many, she was selfless, beautiful in spirit, hardworking, and deeply devoted to her Christian faith.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Linda Silver Tipton, and her sons, Welzie Brook Silver II, and Lanny Dean Silver; grandchildren, Richard Tipton and wife, Amy, Angela Tipton Rash and husband, Calvin, Jill Silver Wilson and husband Randy, Brook Silver, and Jennifer Silver; five great-grandchildren, Hannah, Presley, Nick, Katelyn, and Layla; five great-great-grandchildren, Violet, Gunner, Ila, Quinn, Noah, and Bennett; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish her memory.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Low Gap Free Will Baptist Church, with Rev. Blaine Whitson officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16th, 2026, at Riddle-Ray Cemetery on Bee Branch Road in Burnsville.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Smoky Ridge Health & Rehabilitation and Compassionate Care WNC for the love and care shown to Mrs. Silver.
