Mary passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 67. The daughter of the late Charles and Jeannette (Smith) Heinberg was born October 29, 1956 in Petoskey, Michigan. Mary loved teaching Sunday school for several years, she also enjoyed doing arts and crafts. Mary was a member of the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians, most of all Mary loved spending time with her family and traveling with her husband.
Mary is survived by her husband of 36 years, Dwight Simmons; children, Mike Wheeler, Theresa (Joe) Ingersoll, Christine Simmons, Carolyn (Steve) Nielson, Scott (Shannon) Simmons; grandchildren, Savanah, Travis, Joey, Caiden, Izzy, Emily and Kyler; brother, Charles Heinberg, sister, Debra Graveratte (Heinberg) and several nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
Funeral and Committal service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor Daniel Stonebeck with private interment will take place in Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday, May 17, 2024 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
