Age 81, formerly of Davenport, Iowa, of Morris, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025.

Born on November 15, 1943, in Davenport, Mary Janet was a daughter to Harry and Camilla (Moeller) O'Hara. She was raised in Davenport and graduated from Assumption Catholic High School with the class of 1961. She then married Roger on June 16, 1962, and together they began their lives and started a family of their own.

Mary was a proud mother of seven children, grandmother of 18, and great-grandmother of many. She was undoubtedly the heart of the entire family. Mary was a devout Catholic, an avid reader - especially to her own children, and a talented crocheter, where her treasures can be found in the homes of whom she loved. She was also an early adopter of video games and Facebook, embracing new ways to keep connected with those she loved.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Roger Simmons; children: Scott Simmons, Cynthia Puck, Patricia Weese, Kathleen Ellis, Joseph Simmons, Keith Simmons, and Sandra Zoelzer; eighteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; siblings: Camilla Poston and Colleen Bryant.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Kenneth O' Hara and Richard O' Hara; one grandson, James Roger Woody.

Per her wishes cremation rites have occurred.

Memorials may be made as gifts in Mary's name to the Immaculate Conception School or the Church (505 East North Street, Morris, IL. 60450).

The family will receive friends for a celebration of life on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Fruland Funeral Home, 121 West Jefferson Street in Morris, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. Mary will then be laid to rest at Mt. Carmel Cemetery near her beloved grandson, James, at a later date.

Family and friends are encouraged to log onto www.ReevesFuneral.com to sign the guest book, upload photographs and share Mary’s memorial page online through social media.
