BROOKSVILLE — Mary Lou Rankin Simons, 83, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
She was born in Dayton, Ky., on Sept. 7, 1942, to the late James S. and Adelaide Duttle Rankin.
She was a member of Brooksville Methodist Church, a member of Bracken Co. Chamber of Commerce, Bracken Co. Homemakers and Soul Train Sisters; and was named a Kentucky Colonel.
She is survived by her children, David "Davo" Simons, Jr, Dickie (Tracy) Simons, both of Germantown, and Denise (Jerome) Mains of Augusta. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Savanna (Kaine) Brumley, Daniel Simons, and Lindsey Mains; and her great-grandchildren Braxten Teegarden, Mera Brumley and Lena Brumley.
She is also survived by her sister, Debbie (Tommie) Noble of Independence, Ky., and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband David Simons, Sr. and her brother, James Rankin, Jr.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, at Moore and Parker Funeral Home in Brooksville.
Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Germantown.
Visitation will be 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested Ruggles Camp and Retreat Center or Brooksville Methodist Church.
