Mary Frances Skidmore, age 91, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025
Born on December 2, 1933, she lived a life marked by love, faith, and quiet strength that touched everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles "Skid" Skidmore; her parents, Bessie and Clarence Cannon; her sisters, Lois Howey, Helen Robinson, and Ella Faye Kepler; and her brother, Jack Cannon.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, Gay Gillis and her husband Jerry, and Jill Stacy and her husband Jack; her cherished grandchildren, Emily Lane Robinson and her husband Billy, Ashley Winstead, Justin Gillis, and Will Lane and his wife Kasey; her precious great-grandchildren, Ella Winstead, Cooper and Tucker Lane; brother, Mack Cannon; and her devoted niece, Linda Byers.
Frances had a special love for the game of golf. Whether walking the course or sharing stories from the clubhouse, it was a joy that brought her peace and laughter. Her love for family was even greater, and she will be remembered for her gentle spirit, warm heart, and the steady way she made everyone feel loved.
Her faith was the foundation of her life. She found comfort and strength in her relationship with the Lord, and her quiet prayers, kind heart, and steady trust in God were a guiding light to her family. She lived her faith not just in words, but in the way she loved, served, and cared for others.
Beyond her grace and faith, she was known for her joyful spirit and playful heart. Her sweet laughter filled every room, and she was famous for saying "love it" with a smile that made everyone feel special. Some of the family's most cherished memories include her playful whipped cream food fights and pranks, moments of pure fun that captured her lighthearted spirit and her ability to turn ordinary days into unforgettable joy. Her legacy of faith, kindness, and devotion to family will live on through the generations who were blessed to call her "Mamaw."
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
