Mary Elizabeth "Lib" Smith, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Legacy Village. She was born in Loudon and was a long-time resident of Cleveland. She was a 1954 graduate of Bradley Central High School and attended Lee College. She was a member of Black Fox Methodist Church. She worked at Brown Stove Company and then enjoyed waiting on all the customers at Bradley Farmers Co-op until she retired. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies included: puzzles, bowling, and quilting. Her favorite pastime was watching her beloved Braves and Lady Vols with her late husband Roy.
She was preceded in death by loving husband of 62 years James Roy Smith; parents, Walter Bowman and Mildred Marie Rucker; and brother, W. Steve Rucker.
She is survived by two children; Carol Jordan and husband Dale, Janice Mull and husband Fred, two grandchildren; James Cody Jordan and wife Cayci, Shalea Morgan Tatum; two great-grandchildren; James Lucas and Laney Elizabeth Jordan, two step-grandchildren; Jeremy and Heath Jordan, one sister; Evelyn Holloway, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be conducted Sunday, March 24, 2024, in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Interment will follow at Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Pastor Mike Wallin officiating. Honorary pallbearers include: Billy Duke, Jeremy Jordan, Heath Jordan, Dale Jordan, Cody Jordan and Fred Mull. Honorary pallbearers will be Great Grandchildren Luke and Laney Jordan
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Legacy Village Assisted Living of Cleveland in Lib's name.
