Mary Ruth Solander

Mary Ruth (Leedy) Solander, 96, 1347 N River Rd, passed away in the early afternoon on May 09, 2025 at Fremont’s Valley View Health Campus. Mary Ruth was born May 26, 1928, in Fremont, OH to Arthur Earl and Alta (Stull) Leedy, and graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1946.

Mary Ruth married Clyde Solander on May 15, 1954, and he preceded her in death on December 12, 2020.

Mary Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Haldon Leedy and Richard Leedy, and by her sister Christine (Leedy) Carl.

Mary Ruth is survived by son Charles (Shari) Solander of Monroeville, OH, daughter Susan (Uwe) Straube of Clyde, OH, and son Michael (Linda) Solander of Fremont, OH, and by 7 grandchildren; Ryan (Amanda) Straube, Erika (Michael) Mendise, Charles Solander, Rachel Welfle, Alyssa Solander, Brent Solander, and Drew (Shana) Solander, and 8 great-grandchildren.

Mary Ruth had worked previously for the Fremont Gas Company and also the Herbrand Co. before becoming a full time mother to her children. She was a long-time member of Grace Community church and taught Sunday school there for many years. She also hosted and taught many “Good News Clubs” at her home, and hosted in-home Women’s Bible Studies. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and was always ready to cook something up for them whenever they came over.

The family would like to thank Valley View Health campus for all the attention given to their mother for her 6 years there, and for the loving support from Heartland Hospice over the past 6 months.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 9 to 11 AM at Grace Community Church, 900 Smith Road, Fremont, OH. A service will follow at Grace Community Church at 11:00 AM, with a burial at McPherson Cemetery, Clyde, Ohio
