Mary Steele Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 30, 2024.
Mary Margaret Rosemeier Steele passed away on July 27, 2024 at her home in Fort Myers.
Mary was born July 24, 1938 in Wheeling, West Virginia, a daughter of Adolph and Mary Rosemeier.
Raised in West Virginia, Mary graduated from Triadelphia High School. She began her working career at Pennsylvania and West Virginia Supply Corporation and soon after transferred to Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel. She worked there for 39 years; breaking the glass ceiling as the first woman manager which was a huge accomplishment at that time.
Always having a strong work ethic, Mary was still working part-time for her son's pharmacy up until her death.
When she wasn't working, she had many interests and hobbies. Mary enjoyed playing cards and mah-jongg, golfing, reading or hanging out with her two Bengal cats.
Most importantly, Mary's true passion was her family. Mary and her husband, Bob moved to Ft. Myers for the winter months in 2001 and in 2011 became permanent residents so they could spend more time with their only child, Jeff and his family. Mary was so happy cooking and baking for her family; especially her favorite cole slaw and sugar cookies.
Mary was able to travel with her family throughout the U.S. and abroad; making memories that will never be forgotten. She was always fond of adventure.
She is pre-deceased by her husband of 65 years, Robert "Bob" Steele and her brother, William Rosemeier. She is survived by her son, Jeff (Lisa) Steele of Ft. Myers, Fl; 2 grandsons, Zachary Scott (girlfriend Jessica Dorsey) and Christopher Joseph (Kelsey) Steele, both of Ft. Myers, Fl and her sister, Vickie Morris of Harrisville, Oh.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a date yet to be determined in Ft. Myers, Fl.
Arrangements were made by Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling (304-242-2311)
