Mary Katherine "Buddy" Swaggerty
August 19, 1943 - June 22, 2025

Mary Katherine Swaggerty, lovingly known as Buddy, Mom, Mama and Mamaw, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2025, in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by the family she so deeply cherished. She was 81 years old.

Born on August 19, 1943, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Mary lived a life centered on faith, love, and unwavering devotion to her family. After a short battle with illness, she was called home, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, strength and grace.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Maudie Sparks and Henry Coley; her brothers Charly and Bud Coley; and her sisters Mildred and Lola.

She is survived by her four sisters Connie, Dorothy, Lydia and Martha. Three brothers Nick, Jimmy and Paul. Her loving husband of 65 years, Mickey Swaggerty Sr., her lifelong partner in love, faith, and adventure.

Together, Mary and Mickey raised seven children: Mickey Swaggerty Jr. (Annette), Debbie Minter (Ronnie), Ronald Swaggerty (Alicia), Daniel Bryan Swaggerty, Kathy Pratt (Tommy), Joseph Jeffery Swaggerty (Holley), and Coni-Doyle Swaggerty. She was the proud and joyful grandmother of 30 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many beloved family and friends who became family.

Mary had a special gift for making life slow down. Her very presence brought calm, comfort, and peace to any room. Known for her deep faith and constant prayers, she was a spiritual anchor for her family-always speaking hope into every circumstance and reminding everyone that no matter what we face, there is always one answer: "But God." She attended True Life Fellowship Church.

An active member of her church and community, Mary lived to serve others. Her home was a haven, known for her warm hospitality and her famous chicken and dumplings. She loved to travel, especially with Mickey by her side, and cherished the quiet joy of being with the people she loved most.

Mary will be remembered for her gentle strength, her faithful heart, and the way she made everyone feel safe, seen, and loved. Her prayers, her presence, and her enduring positivity leave a legacy that will continue through generations. She had a special way of encouraging anyone that came to visit, even those that were coming by to lift up and encourage her.

Some fun facts about Mary were that she was a Mayor for the day in Mesquite and she was also involved with the Mesquite Beautification committee as well as a member of the Mesquite Citizens Police Alumni.
