Mary Lou Swatty, age 90, passed away peacefully. She will be remembered with deep love, warmth, and gratitude by all who knew her.
Born in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, to parents Mary and Stephen, Mary Lou grew up in a loving family that shaped her gentle spirit and enduring strength. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother Stephen. She is survived by her brother, Bruce Rapchak.
Mary Lou was a devoted mother and the heart of her family. She is survived by her children Susan, Brian, Chris, and Heidi, who will forever cherish her guidance, kindness, and unwavering love. She was also a proud grandmother to Kristen, Christopher, and James, each of whom brought her immense joy.
Mom made so many indelible memories for all of us "kids." She was a phenomenal cook, a gifted artist, a photographer who loved to travel, and someone who held a deep affection for the state of Arizona. Her passion for Arizona was so strong that she took time away from her career as a real estate broker in Scottsdale to produce a magazine dedicated to the state, titled Arizona Now. This unique undertaking included collaborating with the remarkable photography staff at Arizona Highways, bringing to life a project driven entirely by her love for Arizona.
Mary Lou touched countless lives with her warmth, creativity, and adventurous spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
