MARY E. SWEENEY, 82, of Four Seasons at Wall, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.
Mary was born in the Bronx to Andrew C. & Betty (née Conroy) McCarthy. She graduated from St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School and was employed by Chase Manhattan Bank where she met her future husband, Thomas M. Sweeney. They married in 1959. In 1966, they settled in Dix Hills, Long Island where they would spend the next three decades raising their family. In 1998 they relocated to Four Seasons at Wall.
Thomas was by her side until her final moment. Mary loved her husband and family deeply. She took great joy in her grandchildren. Mary was a kind and caring individual who had unconditional love for her family and friends. She was most generous and considerate of others. She will be greatly missed.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband Thomas M. Sweeney, her daughter Mary Beth Sweeney, her sons Thomas M. Jr., Patrick J. and Robert G. Sweeney, her daughters–in-law Malgosia Madajewicz and Kim Lynn Lehnert, her five grandchildren Connor, Michael, Maya, Timothy and Lucas, her sisters Veronica Tobin and Kathleen Taylor, sisters-in-law Margaret, Maureen and Katherine McCarthy, Loretta and Helen Sweeney, and many loving nieces and nephews, extended family and dear friends. She is predeceased by her parents, her son Timothy J., her sister Eileen T. Brady, and her brothers Andrew C. Jr., Denis J., and Thomas A. McCarthy.
A private wake will be held for family only on Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan, NJ 08736. To send condolences to the family please visit www.orenderfamilyhome.net.
