Mary Tanner Obituary
Mary was born February 22, 1944, in Rowan County, NC to the late Henry Spry and Ada Wilson Spry. Mary worked for Celanese for 27 years until her retirement. She enjoyed watching westerns, gardening, reading and loved to watch hummingbirds, going to the beach and traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tammy Brown and son-in-law, Chris Brown; stepson, Eddie Tanner; sister, Linda Beck and brother, Tommy Spry.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 46 years, William Tanner; son, Robbie Ludwig (Penny) of Mooresville, NC; stepson, David Tanner of Granite Quarry, NC; stepdaughter, Darlene Murphy (Tom) of Salisbury, NC and brother, Michael Koontz (Dale) of Salisbury, NC. Also surviving her are her grandchildren: David Ludwig (Emily), Welsey Ludwig (Morgan), Parker Murphy (Jodi), and Rebecca Bradley (Richard) and great-grandchildren: Gatlin Murphy, Luke Murphy, Lila Ludwig, Madalyn Bradley, Rowyn Bradley and Fletcher Ludwig.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Rowan Memorial Park.
