Mary May Thomas

Mary May Thomas, of Huntsville; passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Countryside Assisted Living, at the age of 92 years, 9 months, and 20 days. She was born Saturday, April 22, 1933, at Saint Paul; to Marion Elvis and Nellie May Hall Ball.

Mary had a gentle love for animals and felt most at peace outdoors, especially when she was fishing by the water. She cherished her family deeply and found quiet joy in tending her garden, where she spent many happy hours nurturing the things she grew.

Mary was preceded in death by her spouses; her parents, Marion and Nellie Ball; one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and James Peters; one son, James Byrum; one daughter-in-law, Carol Young; one great-grandson, Samuel Wood; and two brothers and sister-in-law, Calvin and Carolyn Ball, and Jasper Ball.

She is survived by her four sons and two daughters-in-law, Jerry Young, of Elkins; Jackie and Gwen Young, of Combs; Roger Young, of Saint Paul; and Tony and Laurie Thomas, of Fort Smith; one daughter, Linda Caldwell, of El Dorado; 9 grandchildren,10 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Shirley Ricketts; and one brother, Chester Ball.

The family will receive friends 1:00 PM-2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Brashears Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM with TJ Bennett officiating. Pallbearers will be Scott McDonald, Eddie Ball, Elvis Ball, Trinton McDonald, Michael Young, and Nick Young. Interment will immediately follow services at Patrick Cemetery.

Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
