Mary Kathleen Thompson, 81, of Spartanburg, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Mary was born on March 28, 1943, in Spartanburg, SC, a daughter to the late Gladys Smith Thompson and R.V. Thompson. She was married to the late Fred W. Bullman.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Kathy Lynn Gates (Joe O’Shields) and Gladys Deborah Johnson, of Spartanburg; her son, James Stevie Smith of Gaffney, SC; her 5 grandchildren, Noddy Woods, Michael Smith, Stacy Bishop, Tucker Smith and Josh Smith; 4 great-grandchildren, Sierra, Chris, Cade and Raylee; 1 great-great-grandson, Zackariah; her ‘adopted” daughter, Pauline Ravan; and dear friends, Peggy Rice, Keke Williams, Charles and Jean Lightner, Ned Blackwell, Wendy Fowler and Kathy Masiello. Mary was predeceased by a son, Randy Smith; and 2 sisters, Vivian C. Foster and Louise Abernathy.
The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2024, at Floyd’s North Church Street Chapel, 235 North Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2024, at Fort Prince Memorial Gardens, 125 Fort Prince Road, Wellford, SC 29385 conducted by the Rev. Jesse Harper.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made the Spartanburg Humane Society, 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
