Mary was born to George and Fern Grills Cornish in Columbia Station, Lorain County, Ohio. The family moved to North Eaton when Mary was 2 and over her childhood years operated a corner grocery store, a hardware store and a local dairy farm.
She graduated from Eaton School in 1942. Having known Sterling Tite all her life, they married in 1949, making their home in the North Eaton farming community in which they were both raised.
Mary was a faithful and devoted Christian and a member of the North Eaton Christian Church and Rebekah Circle.
She was a consumate homemaker, skilled seamstress, talented painter and crafter, excellent cook and creative cake decorator.
When their two daughters were old enough, she took a position as an elementary school secretary in the Midview School District where she worked for 22 years at Brush School.
She and Sterling enjoyed golf and bowling, and she traveled with him to national horseshoe pitching tournaments as a supporter and score keeper. Her favorite vacations were when she and Sterling traveled to Hawaii.
After retirement she took a part time job at Schilds IGA Foodliner. She and Sterling spent their winters in Arizona and enjoyed travels to Florida visiting family and friends.
She relocated to Gainesville, Florida in 2017 to live her remaining years in a retirement village close to her oldest daughter and family.
Mary passed away on June 20, 2025 at the age of 101 at the E. T. York Care Center of Haven Hospice in Gainesville, Florida.
Mary is survived by her daughter Nancy (Mark) Cochran, her granddaughter Jeremie Cochran Wicks, Thomas Wicks, grandsons Justin (Lise) Cochran and Nicholas Rodak (Staci), four great grandchildren Ellie and Jasper Wicks, Greyson Cochran and Matthew Rodak, nephews Ken (Dolly) and Bruce (Donna) Burdick and niece Lee Ann Burdick Martin as well as many others from a large and extended family.
She was pre deceased by her parents George and Fern Cornish, husband Sterling Tite, daughter Linda Rodak, sister Ruby (Bob) Burdick, and brother Warren Cornish.
