She later worked for such stores as Mason's, Sky City and then became a manager/supervisor of a local convenience store chain. Later in life, she decided to get her GED so that she could attend cosmetology school. It was a life long desire to become a hairstylist. She worked at Regis, Golden Touch and finally, Salon 601. She absolutely loved doing hair and cherished her relationships with her clients, who became like family to her. In 2009, at age 65, she suffered from a massive stroke which landed her in Autumn Care in Marshville and then finally she settled in at Pruitt Health in Monroe. She enjoyed making friends with both residents and employees at Pruitt. She loved her family and doted on her grandchildren!
