Mary Walker Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jansen Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Jan. 19, 2026.
Mary Jane Walker, a beacon of love and adventure, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on March 31, 1942, in Forest Twp, Michigan, Mary Jane was a cherished member of the community and a loving matriarch to her family. Her presence was a source of comfort and wisdom, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.

Mary's early years in Michigan were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family. She was the beloved sister to Norman Hart, Catherine (Ken) Heathcock, Jim (Deb) Hart, and Linda Kinard. Her life was further blessed with the joy of her sons, Lewis Tallieu, Phil Tallieu, Wayne Walker, James (Olga) Walker. Mary Jane found her greatest happiness in the role of grandmother to Lewis Jr (Shawna), Ashley (Greg), Jake (Malia "Mo"), Jason (Cambron), Jon, Adam, Arianna, Aubrey, Aiden, Madelyn, Luke and as a great-grandmother to Noah, Kinsley, River, Kolstyn, Amaya, and Waylon. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she nurtured them with unconditional love and support. She was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Edward and Mary Hart, her loving husband, Marion, and her cherished son, Timothy.

Professionally, Mary retired from the Lapeer office of the USDA, where she was highly respected for her dedication and work ethic.

Mary's interests were a reflection of her adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors. She was an avid scrapbooker, preserving memories with meticulous care for future generations to cherish. Camping and fishing were among some of her favorite pastimes, allowing her to immerse herself in the tranquility of nature. Mary Jane was also skilled in canning, sewing, and gardening, talents she often shared with her family and friends. A die-hard Tigers baseball fan, she rarely missed a game and enjoyed cheering on her team.
