Mary Warner Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Birdsong Cremations on Sep. 24, 2025.
In loving memory of Mary Alice Hill Warner. Like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon, her life was a gentle unfolding of beauty, kindness, and quiet strength. Though she has taken flight from this world, her spirit remains-light and free, carried in every tender memory and whispered prayer. "Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." -Isaiah 40:31
Mary Alice Hill Warner, born in 1926 in the family farmhouse in Pennsylvania, passed away leaving behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and joyful memories. A proud graduate of Schillington High School in 1944, Mary pursued her passion for caring for others by completing her nursing education at Wagner College School of Nursing in Staten Island, NY, and Jersey City University by 1947.
Mary found great fulfillment in her nursing career, having started as a new nurse in VA hospitals during WWII and culminating while in her 70's in her role as charge nurse on the evening shift at the North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center in Gainesville, Florida, where she cared for over 90 men during her final decade of professional work. Her commitment to the well-being of others was a defining aspect of her life.
Outside of her career, Mary embraced a rich and active lifestyle. She loved outdoor activities including camping (best memory of cross country camping from New Jersey to California and back with her young family), bird watching, swimming, bicycling, tennis, and golf. As a Girl Scout leader for her daughter's troop, she led many fun and spirited activities for a number of years. Her creative spirit was expressed through singing in choirs, having a beautiful harmony voice, and crafts such as embroidery needlework. An avid reader, Mary explored a broad range of subjects through books and had a deep curiosity about the world. Many will remember her focus on health and natural homeopathic remedies having researched and written many newsletters for her family, neighbors and friends to share her wealth of knowledge. Her travels took her to 46 U.S. states, parts of Canada, and Mexico, reflecting her adventurous and open heart. She was an animal lover having her first pup Inky as a child and caring for a family cat, dogs, guinea pig, raising orphaned squirrels and rescuing multiple birds while raising her family.
Mary's enduring gratitude for life's blessings and curiosity of the world around her was evident to all who knew her. She was a source of light and warmth, touching the lives of family and friends alike.
Mary is survived by her two loving children. Glenn and Janis, her grandchildren, Nicole, Samantha and Lilia, and her great grandchildren, Roman and Sienna along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary Warner was a beacon of kindness and resilience. She had faith that she would have peace in eternal life with her Lord and Savior. So, although she will be dearly missed: she will forever remembered for the joy and care she brought into the world, we know she is watching over us and always here in spirit.
