Mrs. Weatherford, 95, of Meridian, passed away peacefully Friday, December 12, 2025.
Frances was known as “a take charge person”. A few of those traits included, the family and community barber, a seamstress, teacher, an influencer, a gardener, and a career woman.
She spent her early years in Neshoba County, Mississippi, where she met, married, and began her family with Murry.
They moved to Meridian, Mississippi in 1961 where they continued a supportive and loving marriage for 63 years until Murry’s passing in 2010. During those years Frances also had a work career. She had several retail jobs, as well as a cashier at A & P Supermarket and Big Star Supermarket. In 1963 she began her banking career at Merchants & Farmers Bank (Deposit Guaranty National Bank, Regions Bank) that took from a teller position to a Vice President and Director of HR, retiring after 25 years of service. During her bank tenure, she obtained a Degree in Banking from the University of Mississippi.
Frances was a lifelong Sunday School teacher, teaching from the time she was 17 until she was 89. She was also a faithful member of Midway Baptist Church for more than 30 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Walker (Dan); daughter-in-law, Linda Weatherford, grandchildren, Jennifer D’Avella (Nick Nance) Robert Donaldson (Christine), Pamela Jordan (Craig), Daniel “Danny” Weatherford (Michelle), and Kaspars Donaldson; great grandchildren, Joshua “Josh”, Ashley, Savannah, Jesslyn, Anna Claire, Sydney, Luke, Gracie, and Parker; and 5 great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, M.A. “Murry” Weatherford; son, Gary Weatherford; parents, Johnnie and Dollie Posey Wells; and sisters, Johnnie Hill, Dollie Anderson, Bettie Pierce, and Aletha Mott.
She will be most remembered for being a devoted wife, and loving grandmother. She will be missed by all whose life she touched.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Frances’ “Sunday School Girls” at Midway Baptist Church for their love and friendship over the years as well as Debra Martin, who was Frances’ devoted caregiver for 6 years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Midway Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 19, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Webb & Stephens Funeral Home-North.
