Mary Kim Ratledge Westra, 64, of State Road, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Monday, January 6th, 2025 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston -Salem, surrounded by her family.
Kim was born in Elkin, NC on September 14th, 1960 to Bob and Helen Ratledge. She was a graduate of Elkin High School, where she then went on to attend UNC Charlotte. She was a 2nd generation owner of Ratledge Florist in Elkin, alongside her Mother and Father for over 40 years. She was married to the love of her life, John Westra, for 39 years. Her greatest achievements and joy were her three children and six grandchildren.
Kim is preceded in death by her loving father, Bob Ratledge and father-in-law, John Westra, Sr.
Surviving are her husband, John Westra, Jr. of the home; mother, Helen Ratledge of State Road; son and daughter-in-law, Coad and Kayla Westra of State Road, daughter and son-in-law, Schia and Aaron Webb of Elkin, daughter and son-in-law, Bobe and Austin Meyer of State Road; six grandchildren, Inezleigh, Iselle, Esme and Eiris Westra, Kayde and Aarynn Webb and Grand Doggy, Finn Westra Meyer; brother, Johnny Johnson and wife Judy of Jonesville, mother-in-law, Betty Westra, sister-in-law, Sheree Bright, brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Janie Westra and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Kim was an incredible designer and liaison for her mother’s legacy, Ratledge Florist, for many years, where she was able to serve and help many families in our community through life’s happiest and hardest moments.
A memorial service will be held Monday, January 13th, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel, with Rev. Scott Sherrod and Rev. Jerry Fugate officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
