She was born on March 25, 1943 in Chicago, IL to the late Carl and Mary (Rickey) Helgesen.
Joni graduated from Two Harbors High School in Minnesota in 1960.
On November 28, 1969, she married Robert L. "Butch" Widner, Jr. in Monticello and he preceded her in death on July 25, 1997.
Joni worked as a realtor for 40 years.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and the American Legion.
Joni enjoyed being on the lake, traveling, and animals.
Surviving are her daughter, Lynette (John) Bays of O'Fallon, MO and her grandchildren, Jessica Sinclair, Justin Bays, and Julie Howard.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Lyle Helgesen.
Joni will be buried in IOOF Riverview Cemetery in Monticello next to her husband.
Memorial donations may be made to The Rhino Orphanage at therhinoorphanage.org in loving memory of Joni.
