Mary "Jane" Wiedrick, formerly Mary Jane Dunn of Canandaigua, an accomplished engineer and artist, has gone on to join her husband of 65 years, Sidney George Wiedrick. Jane graduated from Canandaigua Academy and went on to General Motors Institute where after graduating, where she became one of the first women to serve as a Tool Inspector and Designer for General Motors.
Jane was the daughter of the John Dunn, former Police Chief of Canandaigua and his wife Helen; and the sister to brothers Jack and Bill Dunn.
Jane was not only the endearing mother of Joan Hare and Jan Wiedrick-Kozlowski, but also an artist who made porcelain dolls and ceramics for 50 years. Jane and Sid built their dream cottage on Canandaigua Lake where the family made wine and clams cassino, went swimming, water skiing, hiked the hills, and enjoyed such memorable times with so many wonderful friends. Jane and Sid also enjoyed retirement years at Sunlake Estates in Florida. Together, they formed an incredible team and created a life of fun and adventure with family and friends from around the world. In later years, Jane forged a rich life at the Villages at Unity where she was crowned Queen of the Marti Gras, sang in the choir, played Wei bowling, went to art class, and enjoyed the many wonderful residents and their families along with the outstanding staff there. She continued that winning streak at Crimson Ridge Meadows where she enjoyed residents and staff there as well.
Jane is survived by daughters Joan E. (James) Hare and Jan Wiedrick-Kozlowski (Scott); Kristy (Mike) Gorecki; Daniel (Lisa) Hare; grandchildren James Michael, Olivia and Eli Gorecki; Eleanora and Marianna Hare, along with grand dog Luna.
Friends may call Friday, May 9th from 11-12:30pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 2636 Ridgeway Ave. A memorial service will begin at 12:30pm. Private interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua.
