Mary June Wilkinson passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 18th, 2025.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, to Emery and Flo Foster, Mary June spent her childhood in East Lansing, MI.
She later attended the University of Michigan where she received a Bachelors of Science in Teaching, a career she chose immediately following college.
While at U of M, Mary June met the love of her life, William "Bill" Wilkinson, who preceded her in death in 2003. Together, they built a beautiful life in Birmingham, Michigan, raising their five children and creating a home filled with warmth, laughter and faith.
In 1967, Mary June and Bill purchased their cottage at Epworth Heights in Ludington, MI where the family has enjoyed every summer since. She served on numerous boards at Epworth. It was a place that filled her soul.
Bill and Mary June also enjoyed their winters in Vero Beach, Florida where they also had many cherished times with family and friends.
Mary June was a leader of Community Bible Study, growing the opportunities for women to learn and grow in the Word throughout the metropolitan Detroit Area. Mary June served at the national level of the organization for many years.
She was an avid volunteer and philanthropist. She loved to knit, sew, paint, entertain and play bridge. Mary June's life was defined by her love for others. Her greatest joy came from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply. She was an exceptionally gifted artist, leaving behind a legacy of beauty that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
A decade after Bill's passing, Mary June was blessed to find love again and married Alfred Schmidt. Together, they shared 10 wonderful years, traveling, celebrating Michigan summers and Florida winters.
Radiant with positivity, joy and the Holy Spirit, Mary June was a vibrant force who touched lives with her kindness, creativity and unwavering faith. She was an indelible influence on so many people. She will be profoundly missed by family and many dear friends.
Mary June is survived by her children Scott (Jill), Susie, John (Lois), Julie (Todd), Sarah (Brad); her grandchildren: Emily (Pete), Elle (Teddy), Sarah Beth, Christy (Victor), Katie, Rachel (Tanner), Elizabeth (Jonathan), William (Holly), Maggie, and Allie and her 5 great-grandchildren: Emilia, Finn, Eliza, Emerick and Penelope. She also is survived by her beloved brother Ed (Linda) and beloved sister-in-law Sally and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will take place next summer at Epworth Heights. In lieu of flowers you may make donations to The Epworth Heights Church Association Epworthchurch1984.org or the VNA and Hospice Foundation of Vero Beach
