Mary Williams Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Laughlin Service Funeral Home & Crematory - Huntsville on Dec. 12, 2025.
Mary Ann Williams, 91, passed away peacefully at Redstone Village in Huntsville, Alabama on December 9, 2025. She was devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who maintained a lifelong appreciation for art and music and who cherished spending time with those important to her.
Mary Ann Beth was born in 1934 and raised on her family's farm in Racine, Wisconsin. Her parents were Charles and Clara Beth. Later in life, she would often speak of her time on the farm. Playing with her dog Spot was an especially cherished memory from those years. Her family was active in the Church of God.
She attended Anderson College in Indiana, where she studied to become a teacher. At Anderson she met and fell in love with Henry Williams of Indianapolis, who was preparing to become a minister. They married in 1956 and embarked together on a lifelong partnership in family and ministry. The family served churches in Saint Paul, Minneapolis; Niagara Falls, New York; Muncie, Indiana; Addison, Illinois; and finally, Huntsville, where Henry served as pastor at Saint Mark's Lutheran church. During this period, Mary Ann became a mother to three sons who kept her on her toes and brought much joy to her life.
Beyond her dedication to her husband, three sons, and churches, she worked full-time as a secretary and administrator at a university library and multiple companies. She retired from Thiokol in 1992.
In 1975, Mary Ann and Henry purchased land and built a vacation cottage on the new Tims Ford Lake in southern Tennessee. With their three sons, they expanded the cottage. Over the following decades they would spend many happy days floating, boating, and relaxing with friends and family, including their six grandchildren.
Mary Ann loved music and art. She was a faithful member of her church choir. Known for her beautiful singing voice, she often performed solos for weddings and other events. Building on the art classes that she took in college, Mary Ann enjoyed painting with oils and watercolors into her retirement years. She also maintained a lively crochet practice and created many baby blankets. She loved sharing these creative talents with her grandchildren.
Mary Ann is reunited with her beloved husband, Henry, who passed away in 2006. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Laverne (Beth) Dykhuis and brother, Gilbert Beth.
She is survived by her three sons, Mark and his wife, Donna, Steve and his wife, Melanie, and Phil and his wife, Paula, six grandchildren, Madeline, Hannah, Glen, Shannon, Kate, and Camille; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2025, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 200 Longwood Drive, SE, Huntsville, AL 35801. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service.
