Mary Ann Spivey Williams

Mary Ann Spivey Williams, 89, of Sunbury, NC passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2025.

A native of Gates County, NC, Mary Ann was the wife of the late Ernest G. “E.G.” Williams and the daughter of Lonnie Spivey and Myrtle Virginia Riddick Spivey, both deceased. Mary Ann was a faithful member of Middle Swamp Baptist Church for many years. She retired after working many years as the produce manager at the Sunbury Family Foods in Gates County.

Survivors include her two sons, Gerald Williams and wife, Jackie and Wade Williams and wife, Penny; four grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher Wade Williams; and brother, Earl Spivey.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026 at the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, Gatesville, NC.

Funeral services celebrating Mary Ann's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2025 at Middle Swamp Baptist Church with Rev. Burt Pearce officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
