Obituary published on Legacy.com by Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, Corsicana on Jan. 2, 2026.
As we ponder to collect just a few wonderful memories that would convey Mary's best attributes
and the impact she had on so many people over the course of her 95 years of life, there is a
special way to do it. That way is through her most precious possession, God's Holy word that
she always carried close by and in her heart. So, here we go as we think of Mary K. Williams.
Mary demonstrated bravery and her heart of servanthood was just as Mary in the bible in Luke
1:26-56. Yet she was always hospitable as Rebekah and only desired God's will in her life
(Genesis 24). Also, just as Ruth, she conveyed utmost loyalty to God, her family and all people
in general (Ruth 1-4). Indeed, Mary K. Williams was most like Hannah as she strived to live
each day by example as she exercised her unwavering faith, prayer and praise even when
faced with seasons of hardship. (I Samuel 1-2:11). Lastly, but most definitely not the least, like
Abigail, she was a Godly woman clothed in wisdom and great compassion.
Overall, Mary K. Williams was a woman who followed after God's own heart and will for her life.
She was raised as a young Southern Baptist woman. Upon marriage, she stood beside her
husband as he was saved and called to the ministry. She was faithful in continually pouring her
service into their calling and to whom all she could show compassion and lend a helping hand
to. Collectively, she supported and served joyfully and dutifully, for several years, alongside her
husband, Reverend David Williams at Northside Assembly of God Church in
Corsicana, TX.
She was a woman of experience, wisdom and class. She carried herself well through etiquette
and to those who knew her most personally, you do know not without her lipstick.
Education was important to both her and her husband. In unity, as husband and wife, they
joined together and each completed their education at Navarro College in
Corsicana, TX.
Additionally, as one of her greatest achievements, she studied and completed her Seminary and
received her Ordained Minister's License through the Assemblies of God. Presently, her
Minister's license was renewed last December and active. Mary K. Williams through hard work
and dedication was a very accomplished woman who served as a Pastor's wife, Sunday School
Teacher and she served as part of the Women's Missionaries of North Texas District of the
Assemblies of God. Again, her dearest passion was for the mission field and, at any chance
she was allotted; she would sacrifice through giving financially in order to further support the
cause. She would do so in faith and with her sincerest intent. She was unable to travel in
person for the cause yet she sowed faithfully toward individuals and teams going abroad to
accomplish God's work.
Beyond her service to the church, she would often work side-by-side with her husband in
construction to further support her family at home. Anyone, in presence of her, would be in awe
of how well she could manage all the tasks of caring for church and home while creating design
through wallpaper or taping/bedding within contractual jobs they had received in the community.
Her talent and creativity gave way to her quest of creating great design within homes that each
recipient homeowner would be proud of. She worked tirelessly but NEVER did you hear her
whimper a complaint. She truly displayed the fruits of the spirit while serving many before
herself. One such example, as part of the ministry, she would serve Sunday lunch to young
men of the youth groups right alongside her own family whereby it was an art by her to turn little
into much.
The same can be spoken of her for two of her most favorite holidays, Thanksgiving and
Christmas. Rightfully so, as it was a time in which she could simply enjoy her growing family
and have all of them near. Christmas was especially heartfelt anytime you found yourself in
Mary's home or church. In the earlier years, while her adult children were young, again, she
had the special art of making much out of little. She would burn the midnight oil, in order to
satisfy her daughter, Shirley's, request to Santa by hand sewing a baby doll that adorned a
wedding dress also that was made especially by her. Another time, at the start of the school
year, she took great pride and time to get the proper material to make her daughter, Sandy, a
red corduroy jumper with oxfords which was also adorned with a crying baby doll in hand. She
extended the same effort, love and care to each of her kids, grandkids, great grandkids and
great-great grandkids even upon her last day.
She was her son, James Williams, greatest cheerleader and support system as he found himself called into the same ministry as his mother and father. Mary offered continual wisdom,
love and support while he attended Seminary to obtain his Minister's License, as well. She
offered that same love and support to her son, David Williams and her daughter, Nell Jenkins as
they served in the church through music ministry. She greatly admired the talent and gifts that
each of her five kids were blessed with through song and instrument. Anytime her son, David
Williams would play his saxophone, her blue eyes would light right up, and she would have a
smile of such joy while hearing him play as no one else.
She had a love and heart for all children. She absolutely adored all of her grandchildren, great
grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She never missed any chance at moments that
she could cherish with her grandchildren. Games were her forte' whether it was Chinese
Checkers or Dominoes. When we think of Dominoes, we always recognize the fond memories
etched in the back of her mind of her brother, Clifton. He had a Domino Hall in the heart of
Corsicana, Texas. So, no wonder she always briskly entered into a good game of Forty-Two at
any table. She would beat the best of them and oh how she loved being the scorekeeper with
which we kept a close eye. There are so many more great memories and qualities of Mary K.
Williams that the family would love to share in this moment during our Celebration of Life to
honor exactly who she was, what she means to all of us here today and what she stood for.
But, due to time and limited space we will each endlessly hold everyone of our additional
precious memories near and dear to all of us personally in our hearts.
For all of her entire family, she without fail, expressed the importance and eternal blessing of
living a life that is pleasing to God. She led impactfully by example as she embraced any and
all great opportunities to share the love of Christ. Her legacy and heart for service will continue
to live on through the many lives she has touched. Although, she has now gone before us to
dwell with our Heavenly Father along with all of our loved ones that have gone before her, we
will forever feel her sweet, sweet precious love and words of wisdom (one of her favorite
scriptures to share), "In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths" (Proverbs
3:6 KJV).
Mary K. Williams with her blue eyes and sweet smile is and always will be a great example of
God's everlasting love. She will always be remembered for her strong faith, love of God and her
family along with her unending willingness to serve others.
Finally, the family desires to acknowledge with great appreciation the many thoughts and
prayers, expressions of love, care and kindness shown to them during this time of bereavement.
May God bless each and everyone of you. Many thanks and gratitude to New Century Hospice
for the personal care and attention you extended to Mary K. Williams by all of your professional
staff and medical team of nurses and doctors. We would like to personally give highest regard
and recognition to Jacqueline Minor with The Village at Heritage Oaks as she went way above
and beyond her duties to care, love, support and pray for our loved one. You brought great
comfort to our family more than you know in such a beautiful way during this very emotional and
difficult time. Thank you to all who have taken this special moment to help us love and show
honor as we recognize in remembrance, our loved one Mary K. Williams.
