Mary Williamson Obituary

Mary Ann Bishop Williamson, best known as "Susie" to all of her family and friends, a devoted mother, sister and community advocate, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, at the age of 73 in Tallahassee, Fla. Born on June 19, 1952, Susie was a 1970 graduate of Madison High School where she was a member of the band. She then attended North Florida Junior College before marrying Frank Williamson in 1972. Susie worked with hearing impaired children for more than 30 years, both as a bus driver and as a para-professional. She also served as a member of the Madison County School Board for 16 years, passionately serving her community and advocating for the education of the next generation. Susie was a member of the Madison Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and also enjoyed woodworking and gardening flowers in her spare time.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Williamson; her parents, Richard "R.J." and Carolyn Williams Bishop; and two brothers, Johnny Bishop and Robert Bishop.??Susie is survived by her children: Frankie Williamson, Kimberly (Rob) Gurley, all of Madison, and Justin Williamson, of Tallahassee; three grandchildren: Chase Gurley, Maddie Gurley and Lydia Williamson, all of Madison; two sister-cousins, Becky (Bill) Cherry, of Ocala, Fla. and Deonne (Randy) McPherson, of Madison; as well as a circle of extended family and friends who cherished her warmth and kindness. ??Friends and family are invited to honor her memory at her funeral service which will be held at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 13, in the Burns Funeral Home Memorial Chapel of Madison, with Brother Shaun Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice.??Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. In this time of loss, we celebrate a life full of love, laughter and unwavering dedication to family and community.

Susie was such a quiet, beautiful lady. It was a pleasure to know her as a person and school board member. Learned of her passing on Tuesday night. Blessings to her family.

So sorry to hear. Prayers and thoughts for family. She was always kind and treated me like one of her children when I was growing up.
