Mrs. Maryann Burgwin

VERNON – Mrs. Maryann (Fresina) Burgwin, age 66, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 18, 2024.
Born in Brockton, MA on July 20, 1957, Maryann was the daughter of the late John Fresina and Lorraine Levesque. As a young girl, along with her family, she relocated to the Utica area where she was raised and educated. She was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School.
In November of 2000 Maryann united in marriage with Richard E. Burgwin. They were truly soulmates and Richard was her absolute best friend. The pair was inseparable and shared a mutually loving and devoted relationship together.
At one time, Maryann held a position as a cook at the former Eden Park Nursing Home in their dietary department. She later went on to offer her skills as a home healthcare aide. She also enjoyed working at the family concerns, her father's restaurants, John's Diner on Wurz Ave., and the Marcy Diner on Route 49.
Maryann possessed a big, beautiful, and loving heart. She was extremely family oriented, and the wellbeing of her loved ones was of the utmost importance to her. She was lovingly referred to as "MiMi" by all her beloved nieces and nephews. Everyone who encountered Maryann was blessed to know her loving virtues and her outgoing and sincere personality. She had a contagious laugh that was intriguing to all who had the pleasure of hearing it.
Maryann was most at peace when she was spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She also adored her loving feline companions, Smokey, Mocha, and Mama Cat.
Maryann is survived by her husband, Richard; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and John DiCosola, Doreen Fresina, Bernadette Fresina, and Michelle and Joseph Morgia. She fondly remembered her siblings who preceded her, Theresa Fresina, Diane Logsdon, and John Fresina. She leaves to cherish her memory many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; mother-in-law, Lilian Burgwin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ian and Pauline Burgwin; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lynda and Mark Collins; and her dear friend, Tom Johnston. She was additionally predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Carl and Grace (Silipo) Fresina; and her father-in-law, Eric Burgwin.
Maryann's family will honor and commemorate her life privately.
