My name is Maryann C. East and I died on September 20, 2025. My life began on March 4, 1950 when I was born to Catherine and Peter Michalczyn in Trenton, NJ. I have one older brother, Peter J. Michalczyn, who lives in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
We attended St. Mary’s of the Assumption Catholic Church as a family and I attended grammar school there. I graduated from Hamilton High School East and I received my degree in Elementary Education from Trenton State Teachers College.
Shortly after taking up residence in Little Rock, I was lucky to meet and marry my life’s love and inspiration, Attorney Jack East III. During our 43 year marriage, we shared many travel adventures, culinary collaborations, and just plain fun. We adored our amazing rescue dogs, Coco, Mac, and Lady. I’ll see you three at the Rainbow Bridge.
I was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Souls Parish and I taught school there for nearly 10 years. All of my students continue to be very special to me.
I volunteered as an Annulment Counselor for the Diocese of Little Rock, was an Active Member of the Junior League of Little Rock and I continued as a Sustaining Member. I served on the Board of the Friends of the Rep and the Francis A. Allen School for Exceptional Children and the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Board of Advisors. After Jack and I developed a passion for all things French, I enrolled in lots of French classes at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. I made wonderful friends and we enjoyed fun times both in and outside of the class.
To my family and friends I say, we shall meet again.
Dear husband, Jack, brother Pete, Sharyn Michalczyn, Adele East Lloyd, Mollie and Brent Birch, Emma Tribell, Hayes Tribell, Josh Lloyd, Owen Lloyd, and Godson, Stephen M. Oakley. My special dear cousins Barbara Stoy, Jane and Harry Mesday, and Carol Battaglia all of Hamilton, NJ, Kathleen Kostue Rowland, and all my Plainsboro, NJ cousins, and Novato, CA cousins, Linda Poksay and Thomas J. Poksay.
Please consider a memorial in my name to the charity dearest to your heart.
A private funeral service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025. A reception for friends and family will follow at 10:30 AM at Second Presbyterian Church (600 Pleasant Valley Drive).
